The Nemesis name has returned to the Alton Towers resort with the launch of Nemesis Sub-Terra. A government organisation known as The Phalanx has kept the Nemesis monster secure in its pit for 18 years, but they are now ready to reveal their latest discovery to the public.

Also new for 2012 is 'Ice Age' The 4D Experience cinema combines 3D footage, based on the third movie in the series, with an exhilarating variety of physical effects providing fans with the ultimate 4D experience. Five Alton Towers Facts

  1. Alton Towers opened as a Theme Park in 1980, and the major attraction at that time was the first double corkscrew in the UK.
  2. Alton Towers became part of the Tussauds Group (Now the Merlin Entertainment) in 1990
  3. The Von Roll monorail transports visitors from the car park to the main entrance. The monorail was acquired from Expo 86 which was held in Vancouver, British Columbia.  
  4. Nemesis which was built in 1994 was the first 'legs free' inverted roller coaster in the world.
  5. The resort features two hotels, The Splash Landings Hotel and The Alton Towers Hotel. The Splash Landings Hotel is a combination hotel and waterpark.
